Used car market trends 2024-2025
The National Occasion Survey 2025 is compiled by Automotive and VWE. The survey again shows some striking trends.
- Consumers bought more used cars again at the start of this year
- Plug-in hybrid sales growing fastest at 71%
- The biggest export riser was the EV category, of which 151% more were exported.
- Used cars in the 5-15 years age group in particular are piling up in company stocks, with SUVs the big outlier

Twelfth edition
At the Automotive Remarketing Event, on 27 March 2025 at the Van Mossel headquarters in Waalwijk, the National Occasion Survey 2025 presented by VWE. The twelfth edition of the survey already! The publication consists of two parts. The first part contains the 2025 trend survey (January to February). This compares the data with the same period the year before. The second part consists of the survey of the 2024 annual figures. These have been compared with the years 2023 and 2022 for completeness.
